From Carly Rae Weddings ... Everyday of the week we collaborate with brides to create unique designs for their big day. Its rare that we get an opportunity to design for ourselves and create something that brings us personal joy and satisfaction. So on January 6th, 2014 when Billy and I stood on the porch of our first studio it was a bit of an overwhelming experience. With keys in hand we both took a moment to reflect on the crazy journey before opening the doors to an entirely new chapter in our lives. Inside we found 1,200 square feet of white walls and while we enjoy a good challenge, this one truly stretched us. At first the questions were rather basic: Should we paint? Where would we sit? Do we want desks or more of an open seating feel? As time went on the questions began to shift: What color temperature light bulbs do we buy? What texture were you thinking for the cabinet’s handles? Do you want a blush pink, soft pink or antiqued pink couch? Yes these were real conversations, and yes Billy cares deeply about the shade of pink that he wishes to sit upon (Its one of the many reasons why I love that man).

8 mood boards, 7 concept guides, and 6 months later we finished. I remember standing in our entry way one night after a 15 hour day and as I took a step back to take it all in I broke down in tears. It wasn’t exhaustion, it wasn’t even a rough week, it was pure joy. These dreams Billy and I have been chasing had finally come true and this space, for whatever reason, embodied those dreams. Needless to say thats where the name came from. As a finishing touch we decided to call the studio The Dream Factory and placed the logos on the front door to act as a reminder that anything is possible. Two years ago we laughed at the idea of ever owning a studio and now everyday as we show up to work we are reminded that the crazy ideas are the only ones worth pursuing.
